  • What a fantastic end to a busy week! The children in Seals Class were lucky enough to have a visit from a very talented local artist Mo and Lundy's mum! She came in to show us some of her artwork and talk about how she creates her pieces, explaining how she explores texture in her art. We then enjoyed a creative activity together where she shared a paint swatch with each of us and modelled how you can turn a simple blob into something imaginative. The children absolutely loved using their creativity to transform their paint blobs into their own unique interpretations and they couldn't wait to take them home! A huge thank you to Reeve for giving up your time to come and share your amazing talent with us. We had such a wonderful afternoon and felt very inspired! #aspirations #creativitymatters #lovelearning

  • We were delighted to welcome Rachel from Read for Good to lead our assembly at Port Isaac Academy this morning. Rachel shared how the charity raises money to help children through the power of reading bringing storytellers, books and exciting reading opportunities into schools, and donating books to schools and hospitals so that poorly children can enjoy the magic of stories. Reading truly helps to heal through excitement, imagination and adventure. A huge thank you to our children for all their fantastic efforts during our Readathon, helping to raise even more funds. Because of their hard work, children in hospitals will receive brand new books, as well as new titles for our school library. Our classes loved sharing their favourite types of books: Seals Class enjoyed talking about their love of dragon stories and fairy tales. Dolphin Class shared their passion for fact and fiction, from secret worlds and strange creatures to heart-stopping adventures. They told us how reading can make them feel curious, calm and happy. We finished the session with a fun look at "Oi Frog!", which was thoroughly enjoyed by children and staff alike. Thank you to Rachel and Read for Good for such an inspiring visit. #readforgood

  • This week the children in EYFS have been exploring colour mixing! We discovered that there are three very important colours called the primary colours, which we can use to make lots of new colours. The children experimented with mixing paints to create their own colourful colour wheels. We also had lots of fun using playdough to squish, squash, roll and mix colours together to see what new colours we could make. This was not only very creative but also great for developing our finger strength and dexterity!

  • Last week ended with a lovely surprise for Seals Class when Flynn's mum and little sister came in as our Mystery Reader! They shared a story by one of our favourite authors, Rachel Bright – The Camel Who Had the Hump. We were especially excited because it was a story we hadn't enjoyed together in school before! A big thank you for giving up your time to come in and share such a wonderful story with us. The children loved it!

  • World Book Day at Port Isaac Academy Wanted: The Book Thief! The children in Seals created Wanted posters for the Gruffalo after discovering he was responsible for taking our books! The children carefully drew pictures of the Gruffalo and thought about how to describe the criminal. They discussed his appearance, including his terrible tusks, knobbly knees and purple prickles. The children used their ideas to add descriptive words to their posters and helped design "Wanted" signs to warn others about the book thief! #WorldBookDay #gruffalo #DetectiveSkills
