Port Isaac Academy is a vibrant and inclusive learning community nestled in the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac. Our friendly village school is dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment where every pupil is encouraged to explore their potential, embrace their individuality, and achieve their best.
Our school motto, ‘Kara Dyski,’ is the Cornish translation of ‘Love Learning.’ This reflects our deep pride in our Cornish heritage and embodies our commitment to nurturing a lifelong passion for knowledge in our children. We encourage them to approach every learning opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Year 5 & 6 have been thinking like real scientists in their science lesson We explored how reflective space blankets really are and why they're such a vital piece of kit at marathon finish lines. After learning what happens to the human body when you run a marathon and why runners are wrapped up straight away, we put it to the test! The children set up a fair experiment using two water bottles to represent bodies, each filled with water at 40°C. One bottle was wrapped in a space blanket, the other wasn't. We then measured the temperature every five minutes to see which stayed warmer for longer. There was fantastic teamwork, careful measuring and observing, and lots of thoughtful scientific discussion. A brilliant example of joyful learning and working just like scientists
